The protocol

2mg melatonin | valerian root 150mg | GABA 100mg | L-tryptophan 100mg | 60 capsules | third-party tested | cGMP | made in USA

It is 2:40am. You flew in three time zones ago, your body still thinks it is dinner, and the 10mg gummy you bought at the airport left you groggy and dreaming weird until 11am. Here is the thing the bottle never tells you: low dose melatonin is a timing signal, not a sedative. Deep Reset gives you exactly 2mg, the calibrated dose for resetting a scrambled night, not a nightly crutch you escalate forever.

Why 2mg and not 10mg

Your pineal gland (the small endocrine organ at the center of your brain) releases roughly 0.1mg to 0.3mg of melatonin across an entire night. The receptors in your suprachiasmatic nucleus (your master circadian clock, sitting just above the optic chiasm) are tuned to detect that scale, peaking in the picogram range. One picogram is a trillionth of a gram. Swallow a 10mg gummy and plasma concentration can hit 60 to 100 times physiologic peak. You are not dosing a hormone, you are flooding a receptor system that evolved for picograms. Deep Reset sits above physiologic but below the 5mg-and-up range where receptor downregulation, next-morning grogginess, and vivid dream architecture changes start to compound. Melatonin tells the clock "it is night, set the timer." That is the whole job. It is a darkness signal, not Ambien.

What the research shows

Two papers are worth knowing before you buy any melatonin product. Brzezinski A et al. 2005 (Sleep Medicine Reviews) pooled 17 randomized controlled trials and found physiologic doses of 0.3mg to 1mg produced a roughly 7-minute reduction in sleep onset latency versus placebo, while supraphysiologic doses of 5mg to 10mg did not produce larger effects. In several included trials the higher-dose arms underperformed the lower-dose arms. Zhdanova IV et al. 2001 (Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism), a randomized double-blind crossover in n=30 older adults, tested 0.1mg, 0.3mg and 3mg two hours before bed: the 0.3mg dose produced the most consistent improvement in sleep efficiency, and the 3mg arm did not perform better. Matthew Walker, in Why We Sleep (2017), summarized the operational takeaway: melatonin is a timing tool, not a sleep tool. Use it like a clock-setter. The effect is modest and specific. We are honest about that.

Why you can trust the dose on the label

Deep Reset is third-party tested, manufactured in a cGMP-registered facility in the USA, and dosed to the milligram so what the panel says is what is in the capsule. No "extra strength" tier, no sugar-loaded gummy fighting your sleep in the same hour you take it. It is built for the people who read Huberman, Attia and Walker and want named doses and calibrated formulations instead of marketing math.

The spec

  • Melatonin 2mg per serving (calibrated reset dose, not nightly)
  • Valerian Extract (root) 150mg, GABA 100mg, L-Tryptophan 100mg
  • Chamomile 100mg, Lemon Balm 100mg, Passion Flower 100mg
  • 60 capsules, serving size two (2) capsules
  • Capsule form (no sugar, no gummy dose variance)
  • Third-party tested, cGMP, made in USA

How to use it

As a dietary supplement, adults take two (2) capsules. For a reset use it 30 to 60 minutes before the bedtime you are trying to recover toward: jet lag (crossing 4+ time zones), shift-work recovery, or a single scrambled night. This is an occasional tool, not a nightly habit. Give it the right night rather than every night, and pair it with sleep hygiene fundamentals (consistent schedule, dark room, cool temperature, no screens the last hour) for the effect to hold.

Frequently asked questions

Is 2mg of melatonin safe to take nightly?

For most adults, yes, but we do not recommend nightly use. Deep Reset is formulated for occasional reset use (jet lag, shift transitions, scrambled-night recovery), not a daily sleep aid. Nightly use of any dose above 0.3mg is poorly characterized in long-term trials and may attenuate your endogenous rhythm over months.

Why not 0.3mg if that is the most-studied physiologic dose?

0.3mg is most effective in older adults, per Zhdanova 2001. For the 30-to-50 age range these use cases target, 1mg to 2mg has shown more consistent reset effect. 2mg also stays reliably suprathreshold across manufacturing variability while remaining below the U-curve descent.

Will I become dependent on melatonin?

Physiological dependence in the addiction sense, no. Habitual reliance and possible attenuation of your endogenous rhythm with chronic supraphysiologic use, yes, which is why occasional use only is the recommendation.

Can I take Deep Reset with magnesium glycinate?

Yes. They work on different mechanisms: the glycinate is a calming cofactor and amino acid, the melatonin is a circadian timing signal. The combination is fine for an actual reset night, though for routine sleep support the magnesium alone is usually enough. If your real problem is racing-mind sleep onset, that is a cortisol and HPA-axis issue, so take the quiz to find the right lever.

What happens if I take 10mg by accident or out of habit?

Most likely: morning grogginess, possibly vivid dreams, possibly mild headache. Acute toxicity at 10mg is rare in healthy adults. The pattern to avoid is chronic 10mg nightly use, which is what produces receptor downregulation and rhythm attenuation. One-off mistakes are unlikely to do lasting damage.

Questions on this protocol

How fast will I feel results?

Depends on the compound. Acute compounds (L-Theanine, Magnesium) work within 30-60 minutes. Adaptogens (Ashwagandha, Lion's Mane) compound over 4-8 weeks via HPA axis or BDNF pathway. The product description tells you upfront which category this one belongs to.

Can I take this with my other supplements?

Most Apexzen formulas are designed to stack. The product description lists known interactions if any. If you take prescription medication, talk to your physician before starting.
